Abraham: God's Friend
The lessons of Hebrews 11 are written for you and me. Christians are encouraged

had, and that kind of faith is within our reach.
Sarah:
A Story of Virtue
Sarah's remarkable example is in the book of Hebrews, chapter 11, which
recounts many inspiring stories of faith. Though her story is only briefly
explored here, she ranks with the Bible's faithful.

Few examples can compare to that of Ruth's devotion to Naomi. Ruth's loyal
devotion can inspire us to remain faithful to God, His truth and His Church.

apostle of love. Why did he write so much about the subject? And what

testimony for those who desire to obey God in living faith.
Gideon: When a Few Make
a Majority
Gideon's humble, visionary attitude made of him a conqueror before God
and a hero in the eyes of his countrymen. Gideon's example proves to us
that, through the faithfulness of a few, many can be delivered and become
conquerors.
Joseph: Faithfulness
Brings Blessing
Joseph was a dreamer—and one whose dreams came true. In a lifetime filled
with extraordinary extremes, he never lost his trust in God. The story
of Joseph is a saga of sacrifice, of one sent ahead by God to preserve
life and restore and reconcile those who followed.
David:
A Man After God's Heart
In spite of his problems, David usually
wholeheartedly sought God's will. He didn't withdraw from the responsibilities
of life. The biblical record shows that, the more conditions around David
deteriorated, the more he grew in character.

a Wise King
The story of how Solomon became so wise and the lessons from his life
deserve our undivided attention.

Though he showed himself diligent in his early duties, his weaknesses
eventually grew apparent.

From the Land
Elijah, a faithful prophet of the true God, had early in his life learned
the fear of God. His calling was to fight against idolatry and injustice,
protesting a corrupt society.
Hezekiah: A Faithful
King
God's mercy is always available to people in a repentant attitude, who
acknowledge their inadequacies and strive to honor and serve Him. Hezekiah's
life proves this is true. The key to an honorable life now, and ultimately
eternal life, is to humble ourselves before God and obey Him and His laws.
Josiah: A Kingdom Returns
to God
We live in precarious times. Of the days yet ahead, God says that His
righteous servants should warn people to turn from their unrighteous and
hypocritical ways. Will our people listen and learn? If
we are willing to mend our own ways, learning from and following the example
of righteous King Josiah, Jesus Christ says we can be spiritually prepared
for the dangerous times prophesied to come at the end of this age

Paul: Apostle to the Gentiles

broader way. As a result, all peoples have the opportunity and privilege
to become spiritual Israelites. God used Paul, although Paul always
acknowledged that the credit went to God.
Luke: Paul's Beloved Friend
and Companion
Luke was faithful because he had a job to do: writing a history of the
early years of the Church founded by the man he had become convinced was
the very Son of God, Jesus of Nazareth. Only one thing was more important
to Luke than being Paul's friend: his dedication as a servant of his Master,
Jesus Christ.
Timothy: Paul's Son
in the Faith
One of the great lessons we learn from Timothy is to practice genuine
faith. In this he followed the example of our Savior. You can find Jesus'
faith in His example and apply it by following His advice: "'You shall
love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with
all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second
is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself'"
John: An Apostle of Godly
Love
John understood and taught godly love. He knew that God's instructions,
summarized in the Ten Commandments, are an expression of love from God
to mankind, then from mankind to God and human beings to other human beings.
Godly love is the greatest gift God can impart to mankind and the greatest
we can return to Him and share with others. John lived the love of God.

Heroine
We can learn a powerful lesson from Rahab. Her example demonstrates living
faith in a forgiving and merciful God.

Then and Now
Isaiah was a hopeful, faithful and loving prophet of God. Much of his
message is as relevant as it was in the late eighth century B.C. Isaiah
remains a prophet for our time, too. If we will heed his admonitions,
repent of our ungodly ways and turn to God, then the promises he recorded
for the entire world in the future can be yours and mine today.
James: Half Brother of
Jesus
James taught about faith, telling us that true faith is demonstrated by
what we are, how we live and what we do. His life and death were a shining
example of what it means to live—and
die—by true faith.
Noah: An Example of Righteousness
You can be like Noah. You can set a right example, too. You also can participate
in a great work that is, like Noah, properly and appropriately warning
this decaying world of its evil ways and urging it to turn to God in
real repentance.
